Informational Meetings are help the 1st Monday of every month

If you are interested in applying for a Habitat home this is
the first step in application process. Everyone is invited
to attend this meting. You must arrive on time and you also
need to stay for the entire presentation. Meetings are held
at 6p.m. every 1st Monday of the month at:

The Habitat homeownership program provides a hand-up not a hand out for people who are in need of housings. Habitat builds simple decent and affordable homes for those families who are willing to partner with Habitat and met the qualifying standards within the program.
There are four criteria's to fulfill when applying for a Habitat home.
- Residency - Those applying for homeownership must be either a Wayne County resident for one year or have been working within Wayne County for one year before he/she can begin the steps with Habitat.
- Need - You must currently live in substandard housing. Examples include: Various maintenance problems, overcrowding, rent is 30% or more of monthly income
- Ability - There is a certain "low-income" bracket that your family must fall into. Depending on family size your income must fall within our preexisting guidelines. For instance a family of four must have an income between $14,150 - $28,300. If you would like to know about a specific family size please sign up to attend an informational meeting where you will learn all about the Habitat homeownership program. Along with a certain income range you must also have to be able to afford a monthly mortgage payment of approximately $350 and be able to make a down payment of $500.
- Willingness - In order to qualify for a Habitat home you must be willing to partner with Habitat. First, you must be willing to wait for the house while it is being built. You must also be willing to work a minimum of 300 hours of "sweat equity" This is volunteer time put into building your home as well as the homes of others.
